Self-portrait (Jan 2021)

Self-portrait (Jan 2021) is a wall-mounted self portrait created from disacarded LCD televisions.

The work was created during the height of COVID19 second wave, at the second month of an enforced 8pm curfew in Montreal. Already in a period of isolation and work-related uncertainty, I had been spending my time taking apart old disacrded LCD televisions as an act of manual recycling.

As I disassembelled various televisions, I was consistently surprised by the variation and aesthetic qualities of the parts that were revealed. The self-portrait emerged from this improvistory playful activity, which provided much relief in an otherwise troubled time.
