Construction I

2024. Ephemeral sculpture. 8' x 7' x 8'. Recycled waste (steel, wood, textiles, plastics, aluminum, cardboard, wire), ABS tubing. Created with local waste at the 42e Symposium d'art contemporaine Baie St. Paul, QC.

Created with local waste at @symposiumbsp , Baie St Paul, QC. All garbage sorted, processed, and compacted by the artist using a custom compactor. The modular blocks construct a corner of a domicile, an inside and an outside, an ambiguous ruin or future construction. "[E]very crner in a house, every angle in a room, every inch of seculded space in which we like to hide, or withdraw into oruselves, is a symbol of solitude for the imagination' that is to say, it is the germ of a room, or of a house." - Gaston Bachelard, The Poetics of Space, 136.
