Invisible Lines @ Edith Russ Haus fur Mediakunst, Oldenburg, Germany

The sound installation Invisible Lines (Adam Basanta + Julian Stein) – winner of the Edith-Russ-Haus Award for Emerging Media Artists of the Sparda-Bank 2014 – will be on show at the Edith-Russ-Haus fur Mediakunst (Oldernburg, Germany) between October 9, 2014-January 11, 2015 alongside other winning and mentionable works.

Me and Julian will be there for the opening and award presentation, October 9 2014, @ 7pm.

“Room Dynamics” at Serralves Museum, Porto, Portugal Oct 1 + 2, 2014

Absolutely thrilled to be performing 2 sets using my installation-as-instrument Room Dynamics at the Serralves Museum in Porto, Portugal. I will perform one set each night as part of night-long “sleep-concert” headlined by Chistoph Heemen and Timo Van Luyck.

I will perform a solo laptop set of some new material for my new performance project _guit* this Saturday October 13, 2014 at Cagibi (St Laurent @ St. Viateur) in Montreal. Adam Basanta audio-visual set @ Norberg Festival, July 26 2014

Excited to perform at Mimerlaven – an abandoned mine building in Norberg, Sweden – as part of the closing night of the Norberg Festival, Scandinavia’s premiere experimental audiovisual festival. I will perform using 12 light bulbs and 14.1 channel sound system spread out throughout the building.

“Three Myths of Liberalism” selected for the Urban Solar Audio Plant sound installation in Berlin.

“this machine breathes to the rhythms of its own heartbeat” premieres in NYC and Montreal.

“this machine breathes to the rhythms of its own heartbeat” is a new piece for solo piano, electronics, and two surface transducers, commissioned by NYC-based pianist Vicky Chow with the assistance of the Canada Council for the Arts.

The world premiere will take place at Spectrum on May 23, 2014, followed by the Canadian premiere at Cafe Resonance, Montreal QC, on May 24th. Some details below, and recordings coming soon!

New work and installations at Cluster New Music + Integrated Art Festival 2014

I will be travelling to Winnipeg, MB to participate in the 2014 edition of Cluster New Music + Integrated Art Festival,  March 1-9, 2014.

As part of the festival, I will present the installations Invisible Lines (collaboration with Julian Stein) and Room Dynamics, as well as premiere a new work for 5 performers and controlled feedback entitled gently contained but slowly spilling outwards, long and flat.

I will also be giving a talk at the University of Manitoba and participating in a composer panel, so come say hi at the festival (which features many other fascinating artists!) or related events.
